Virginia Tech bolstered its quarterback room in the class of 2027 as the program landed a commitment from 4-Star recruit Ben Musser. Musser chose the Hokies over Cincinatti and Purdue who were in his top three schools.
A product of Prince Avenue Christian in Bogart, Ga., Musser has received 16 other offers from schools across the country but the one from Virginia Tech stood out.
“They’ve been amazing in the recruiting process,” Musser said during an interview with Rivals. “They’ve really made a genuine connection. It’s fel realy from the beginning.
“The staff is incredible. They have a winning football tradition, and the stadium – you can’t beat it. It just felt like home.” (RELATED: Pollsters Hype Spanberger, But Data Shows Tighter Race)
At the core of his relationships at Virginia Tech are offensive coordinator Phillip Montgomery and quarterbacks coach Brian Crist who Musser noted were very impactful in his decision.
“Coaches Montgomery and Crist are the ones I have the best relationship with,” Musser said. “They check in daily and really make me feel like a priority. They’re great people and they know football.”
Along with the offensive coaches, Musser also praised Brent Pry who will be entering his fourth season as the Hokies head coach this fall. (RELATED: Rouse Used Virginia’s Dark Money Loophole To Shield Donor Identities)
“Coach Pry is a great coach,” Musser said. “He’s serious, determined, and a great leader.”
What ultimately pushed Virginia Tech across the goal line for Musser was his last visit to Blacksburg and a conversation with his family.
“I’ve visited twice, with the last one more thorough visit,” Musser said. “I knew Virginia Tech was the school about two weeks ago after sitting down with my family and talking more about it.
“I can’t wait to go to the Vanderbilt game. The vibe there is electric – it just feels right.”
Musser won’t need to wait long before Virginia Tech kicks off against Vanderbilt as it will welcome the Commodores to Lane Stadium on Sept. 6. (RELATED: Loudoun County Restricts Public Comments)
