Spanberger Words, Votes, Come Back to Haunt Her on Trans Issues
In dueling advertisements Spanberger and Sears are sparring over parent’s rights and trans participation in girls’ sports, but Spanberger’s past votes and words have come back to haunt her.

In a new advertisement, Abigail Spanberger is addressing parents’ rights for the first time since the Loudoun County transsexual assault scandal. Her only problem is that her own votes and previous statements tell a different story.

“Nothing matters more to me than the safety of all our kids,” Spanberger says in her latest advertisement. “So, it really angers me to hear these lies about who I am.”

It didn’t take long for state Republicans to post the new ad beside images of Spanberger’s previous tweets and votes which forced schools to allow boys in girls’ sports and promoted gender identity policies for minors.

“This woman cannot become Governor, she is so radical she can’t even address the scandals,” posted Walter Curt of WC Dispatch. “Can’t even address the policies that she supports.”

In 2022 Governor Glenn Youngkin proposed legislation preventing minors from being surgically or chemically transitioned using puberty blockers. Spanberger responded on X. “The Governor’s actions will hurt children, especially LGBTQ children who already suffer higher rates of depression and are at greater risk of suicide,” she said. “The attacks on LGBTQ kids again affirm the need to protect the rights of all Americans,” show screenshots of Spanberger’s posts in support of gender transitions for minors.

Reports are that Spanberger “cursed at” fellow Congressman who supported Youngkin’s efforts during a meeting between the Governor and the Virginia delegation.

“[Spanberger] screams out at me and curses at me in the exchange,” Rep. Bob Good described the meeting. “It’s just interesting that [Spanberger] wanted the opportunity to attack the governor and did not appreciate someone having a different point of view. So she interrupts me to curse at me in the most profane terms, shall we say… She attempted to shout me down, curse me down.”

Supporting LGBTQ rights is not the only obscenity laden tirade documented by Spanberger. Last week, she had a noted breakdown on the liberal Briah Tyler Cohen podcast advocating for a nuclear option to redraw Virginia’s Congressional map to “win those f – – seats.”

A recent poll showed 73% of Virginians, including many in Democrat bastions like Northern Virginia, opposed allowing boys in girls locker rooms, a policy required under Spanberger’s Equality Act.

Democrats rushed to defend Spanergers’ past but Republicans continued to pound her not only trans access to children’s bathrooms but also parent’s rights.

“Abigail Spanberger is FINALLY asked about parents’ concerns regarding men in women’s sports, bathrooms, and locker rooms,” RNC Research posted alongside a video of Spanberger. “She completely dodges.”

When asked about parent’s rights, Spanberger responed by talking about teacher shortages and teacher pay.

“Sears is trying to capitalize on what Donald Trump proved in 2024 was a potent campaign issue,” said Larry Sabato, Director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics. “Even in heavily Democratic areas, like Northern Virginia, there’s a sizable portion of the population that does not favor the full integration of trans students into women’s sports, for example, or locker rooms, and all the rest.”

Spanberger’s supporters aren’t doing her any favors either. (RELATED: Parent’s Rights in Education Still a Major Concern For Voters)

“Trans kids need protection,” supporter Samantha Perez told reporters outside an LGBTQ targeted campaign event. “And it’s not gonna happen with who’s in Richmond right now, and we just need to get it turned around.”

“Her leadership was pivotal during key moments, including vocally defending affirming policies for transgender students in the face of political attacks,” said LGBT+ Democrats of Virginia in their endorsement of Spanberger.

In Loudoun County boys were suspended for being uncomfortable undressing in front of a girl while an adult man used Spanberger’s Equality Act to demand access to a high school girls’ locker room where he masturbated in front of them. The new advertisement from Earle-Sears draws a direct line between Spanberger’s vote for the Equality Act and those incidents.

“Spanberger is for they/them, not for us,” the ad concludes.

Trans issues continue to dominate national politics as well with the Trump administration citing the statistically high propensity of violence among trans individuals and considering restricting trans gun access.

New administration guidelines require states to acknowledge biological sex while the federal government is considering reclassifying transgenderism as a mental illness.

“The DOJ is actively evaluating options to prevent the pattern of violence we have seen from individuals with specific mental health challenges and substance abuse disorders,” said a DOJ Spokesperson. “No specific criminal justice proposals have been advanced at this time.”
