On Wednesday, Charlie Kirk, Leader and Founder of Turning Point, was murdered while speaking on campus at Utah Valley University.
Charlie Kirk, 31, was murdered when speaking in front of hundreds of people on Utah Valley University’s campus during one of his patented open mic events. Kirk was sitting on stage answering a question about gun violence when he was shot once in the neck and was rushed out to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
This event comes in the latest political violence attempts, most notably the attempted assasiantion of President Trump on a campaign trip in Pennsylvania almost a year ago. Virginia lawmakers offered their condolences and prayers to the late Charlie Kirk’s child and wife left behind.
Of these messages, House of Delegates Representative Nick Freitas headlined with a meaningful statement on X. (RELATED: Refugee Fatally Stabbed While Riding Charlotte Light Rail System)
In a lengthy, strong message he wrote in part, “There will be thoughts and prayers…Charlie would have wanted prayers. Not for himself but for those left behind and for the country that he loved. But then there will be a reckoning. My Christian faith requires me to love my enemies and pray for those who curse me. It does not require me to stand idly by in the midst of savagery and barbarism…quite the opposite.”
His messages were also joined on X by Governor Youngkin, Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earl-Sears, and Attorney General Miyares. They all echoed the same message of condemning these actions, and praying for the Kirks and Charlie.
President Trump also ordered all flags to half mast until September 14th to honor Charlie’s death.
