Community Calls For Dot Heffron Immediate Resignation After Instagram Post
Women’s group petition and state leaders intensify calls for Heffron’s removal before December resignation takes effect

A local women’s group is demanding the immediate removal of Chesterfield School Board member Dot Heffron after her offensive Instagram post about Charlie Kirk. While Heffron has already announced her resignation effective December 31, Rally Virginia has launched a petition calling for her ouster without delay, joining Governor Glenn Youngkin and Lt. Governor Winsome Earle-Sears in urging the board to act now.

The resignation comes after an insensitive post about Charlie Kirk, and has sparked outrage on her representation for the school. Heffron originally announced her resignation would take place on December 31st to give the Board time to find a replacement, according to CBS 6

A local women’s group called Rally Virginia has started a petition to remove Heffron immediately. There have been calls from Governor Youngkin and 2025 Gubernatorial Candidate Lt. Governor Earle-Sears as well. “A person of that position shouldn’t be saying that, especially your school board where you have children as a mentor on education,” one resident said in an interview with CBS 6.

The Board is  seeking to remove her from office immediately. “They (the Board) will begin the process to appoint an interim school board representative for the Clover Hill District until a special election can be held to fill Heffron’s position,” said the Board in a statement. (RELATED: Virginia Is Running a Surplus, So Why Is the Gas Tax Still High?)

Heffron was also an outspoken endorser of Democratic Candidate Abigail Spanberger. Spanberger, has yet to renounce her endorsement from Heffron and condemn her actions. Spanberger released a statement that merely denounced the sentiment of political violence justification, speaking nothing to the specific event. Spanberger also has made a singular post of the Charlie Kirk assasination since September 12th on her X account, not addressing anything more since then.

Spanberger has also been in some hot water lately concerning a lawsuit brought by a Virginian for defamation. Spanberger and her campaign are accused of publishing a press release for Virginia Democrats, that claims former Senate candidate Thomas Speciale “bloodied and beat law enforcement officers” during January 6th.

No other official actions have been recorded, and Heffron remains on the school board barring any further action until December 31st.
