Republican Attorney General Helped Shut Down Brothel That Democratic Prosecutor Tolerated
A brothel and suspected human trafficking hub has been shut down after pressure from Virginia’s Attorney General, while Soros-backed prosecutor Steve Descano gave it a slap on the wrist

A local brothel flagged as a likely human trafficking hub has been shut down following pressure from Virginia’s Republican Attorney General Jason Miyares, while George Soros-appointed county prosecutor Steve Descano gave it a light punishment.

When reporting on the brothel came to light, Miyares sent the landlord a letter on Aug. 5 warning that human trafficking concerns surrounding the “spa” had been raised, the Washington Examiner reported.

“The attached published reporting has come to my attention, which raises serious concerns about potential human trafficking in Fairfax County, and the article specifically implicates Rose Spa or L Health Center,” wrote Miyares in reference to the Examiner’s own reporting.

Miyares pointed out that the brothel is considered a “nuisance” under Virginia law, meaning the state could enjoin the business, “which could result in the property being closed for use for any purpose for a period of one year.”

“Human trafficking will not end in Virginia without the help of property owners like you. Property owners may be authorized to terminate a tenancy … and are valuable partners in investigating potential illicit activity,” the attorney general added.

Concerned nearby residents had previously alerted local county councilwoman, Dalia Palchik, that the “spa” is “most certainly” a “brothel” and that “it likely is a trafficking situation.”

When police were informed about the concerns, they came to the property twice in July, but reportedly told two neighbors that “their hands are tied” and they couldn’t do anything other than look for code violations.

In mid-July, Fairfax County Policemen visited the brothel, and the FCPD subsequently reported that the spa was “maintain[ing] a bawdy place,” which according to state law is a place “used for lewdness, assignation, or prostitution.” The infraction is a misdemeanor.

This charge was thereafter brought against the brothel, as well as the charge of operating a massage parlor without a license. At the time of Miyares’ letter, the prostitution business was awaiting trial for these two misdemeanor charges.

Descano’s office dropped the prostitution house charge, and accepted a guilty plea on the permit charge, fining the brothel a mere $500, despite its continued lack of a license to operate as a massage parlor.

The day after, police closed down the prostitution spa due to its lack of a license, and the owners have since moved out the business. The property is now listed for rent. (RELATED: Virginia Democrats Condemn Jay Jones’ Violent Texts — But No One’s Calling for Him to Drop Out)

Descano has repeatedly declared he would refuse to enforce laws he opposed, but his office has declined to say whether this applies in the brothel case.
