A woman from Stafford County recently secured a $250,000 prize by playing the Virginia Lottery’s Bank a Million game.

While stopping for gas at the Royal Farms located at 1500 George Washington Highway in Yorktown, Shevan Collier decided to purchase a couple of Bank a Million lottery tickets for the May 25 drawing. She selected her numbers based on a combination of family birthdays.

After the drawing, Collier checked the Virginia Lottery app and was thrilled to find out she had won a significant amount.

“I said, ‘Those are my numbers,'” she recounted to Lottery officials recently. “I told my husband, and he didn’t believe me.”

The winning numbers for the May 25 drawing were 2-4-5-12-14-31, with the Bonus Ball number being 11. Collier matched the first six numbers, which meant she did not need the Bonus Ball number. The odds of winning any prize in the Bank a Million game are 1 in 18.3.

Profits from the Virginia Lottery are allocated to funding K-12 education across the state. In the last fiscal year, Stafford County, where Collier resides, received $16.2 million in lottery funds for K-12 education.
