DLCC Commits Seven-Figures to Virginia Legislative Campaign
Democrats investing millions to expand their slim legislative majorities.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) is opening the floodgates and pouring money into Virginia’s legislative races. After six-figure commitments in legislative races last year and again earlier this year, the DLCC has announced another seven-figure cash drop to help expand their majorities.

“All eyes are on Virginia in 2025,” DLCC Director Heather Williams said in a statement. “Opportunities to move policy and build power aren’t happening in Washington – they’re happening in the statehouses. State legislative races are the most immediate opportunity for Democrats to defend and build sustainable power, and Virginia will be the highest profile, most data-rich election of 2025.”

Democrats hold a slim majority in both the House and Senate and have routinely blocked Governor Glenn Youngkin’s legislative priorities and pushed wedge issues such as abortion and transgender policies. To highlight Virginia’s importance, the DLCC elevated Virginia House Speaker Don Scott to their national board of directors.

The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee called these elections a “watershed moment for protecting the future of the commonwealth from runaway extremism” and national observers have framed Virginia as a “barometer for how voters feel about Trump.” (REALTED: High Stakes Special Election Heating Up)

House Districts 21, 65, 84 and 97 are currently considered must-win targets for the Democrat campaign machine. Candidates in those districts have prioritized issues such as rent control.

Elizabeth Guzman, a candidate in House District 22 was prominently featured in DLCC online fundraising. During her previous tenure in the Virginia Legislature she sought to criminally prosecute parents for not supporting their child’s gender reassignment.
