Danville Public Schools has placed a history teacher on administrative leave following a social media post depicting a rainbow-colored pistol pointed at a silhouette’s head with the caption, “PUT THE PRONOUNS BACK IN THE EMAIL.”
The teacher, Dr. Sabrina Kent Morris, who taught History and Government at George Washington High School, was suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation. According to a school syllabus, Dr. Morris joined the Danville Public School System in 2023 and previously taught Civics and Economics at O.T. Bonner Middle School.
In a statement, the school division said, “The employee involved will not be present on school grounds while this matter is under investigation. We take such matters very seriously, as the content shared does not reflect the values or expectations of professionalism that guide our division. Danville Public Schools remains committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all students and staff.”
The post, which circulated widely online, prompted immediate backlash from parents and community members. The school district confirmed that Dr. Morris will remain on leave until the investigation concludes, though no timeline has been given for when findings will be made public.
